Bestselling HISTORICAL CHRISTIAN ROMANCE CLEAN Christian Women's Romance (and no violence or foul language) Book ONE of the Early Christian Series Julia is a young, wealthy, Roman woman living in Pompeii. Her life, dedicated to the pagan gods, is carefree. Her world is soon rocked, not only by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius which threatens everything she holds dear, but also by the arrival of the handsome Marcus, a convert to the new religion, a follower of Jesus. Can she escape not only the deadly eruption but also her mother's plan to marry her to the deceitful fish sauce merchant, Brutus? PLEASE NOTE. The people of Pompeii spoke Latin; they did not speak English. What's more, they spoke conversational Latin, not a formal sounding Latin. People back in those times spoke in the same manner and tone as we do now - only they were speaking in Latin. Of course the book is written in English, not Latin, but people back then did not speak in some kind of weird, formal language; they spoke in modern (to them, just as our language is modern to us), conversational Latin, the tone of which was the exact equivalent of how we speak today, so the language in this book is accurately portrayed. Back then they spoke in the modern vernacular, just as we today speak in the modern vernacular. It is necessary to translate conversational (and modern to them) Latin with conversational, modern English. They did not speak in some weird, stilted, formal, old-fashioned way. For example, the main character calls her mother "mom." The translation of the Latin word mater is "mother" or "mom." This is from a Latin to English dictionary: "mater-, matri-, matro- matr- (Latin: mother, mama, mom)." Daughters of this time and culture simply called their mothers Mater, which in English is Mom. At one point, a character in the book says "gosh." This is the English translation of the Latin word ehem, which mans "gosh." Again, this book is written in English, not Latin, and it is historically accurate in both language and setting. Available in the Early Christian Series: Book ONE: Romans Book TWO: Corinthians Coming soon! Book THREE. Ephesians.

It's the hot topic of the moment. Christians, the church and the Bible seem to be out of step with modern attitudes towards homosexuality. And there is growing hostility towards those who hold a different view. So is God homophobic? And what do we say, and how do we relate to to both Christians and non Christians who experience same-sex attraction.

In this short, simple book, Sam Allberry wants to help confused Christians understand what God has said about these questions in the scriptures, and offers a positive and liberating way forward through the debate.

Product Description

This highly anticipated two-book fourth volume in N. T. Wright's magisterial series, Christian Origins and the Question of God, is destined to become the standard reference point on the subject for all serious students of the Bible and theology. The mature summation of a lifetime's study, this landmark book pays a rich tribute to the breadth and depth of the apostle's vision, and offers an unparalleled wealth of detailed insights into his life, times, and enduring impact.

Wright carefully explores the whole context of Paul's thought and activity— Jewish, Greek and Roman, cultural, philosophical, religious, and imperial— and shows how the apostle's worldview and theology enabled him to engage with the many-sided complexities of first-century life that his churches were facing. Wright also provides close and illuminating readings of the letters and other primary sources, along with critical insights into the major twists and turns of exegetical and theological debate in the vast secondary literature. The result is a rounded and profoundly compelling account of the man who became the world's first, and greatest, Christian theologian.

Experience the Lifelong Pleasures of Knowing God!

Satisfaction…Happiness…Joy. According to John Piper, the pursuit of pleasure in God is not only permissible, it’s essential.

Desiring God is a paradigm-shattering work that dramatically alters common perspectives on relating to God.  Piper reveals that there really is no need to choose between duty and delight in the Christian life. In fact, for the follower of Jesus, delight is the duty as Christ is most magnified in His people when they are most satisfied in Him.

Constantly drawing on Scripture to build his case, Piper shows why pursuing maximum joy is essential to glorifying God. He discusses the implications of this for conversion, worship, love, Scripture, prayer, money, marriage, missions, and suffering.

Piper beckons us to approach God with the hedonist’s abandon. Finally, we are freed to enjoy Jesus—not only as our Lord and Savior, but also as our all-surpassing, soul-satisfying Treasure.

Desiring God may turn your Christian world upside down. And that will be a good thing, for the glory of God, and for your deepest joy.

Includes a study guide for individual and small group use.

Product Description

The Bible is explicit: We live in a world of distinct opponents; our very lives are a battle. Yet too many Christians lose more battles than they win and endure their walk with God rather than enjoy it because they don't recognize the enemy when they see it. More importantly, they have no idea how to respond. While society tells us we can react simply, the truth is that a wish, a hope, and a prayer are not the best responses to attacks from those who stand between us and the Father. Christians must be strategic in their reactions to these clearly defined enemies, learning how to fight biblically and effectively rather than just sincerely. In Spiritual Warfare, Dr. Karl Payne - pastor of Leadership Development and Discipleship at Antioch Bible Church and Chaplain for the NFL's Seattle Seahawks - has written a guidebook for defense that is simple, biblical, and transferable. Through his teaching on how to recognize and resolve attacks from the world, we learn that we are more than conquerors in Christ.

This is the book you need for those times in your life when even your most strenuous efforts to follow Christ end in frustration. Christian Self-Mastery explains why following Him can be so difficult and how you can start now to make progress even in the most vexing areas of your life.

Author Fr. Basil W. Maturin insists that no matter how hard you're trying now, you can have a better relationship with God and greater self-mastery if you follow his simple steps to getting your passions in check and improving your knowledge of your own motives, desires, and fears.

Fr. Maturin emphasizes the crucial role that self-discipline plays in your spiritual life and gives you solid ways you can distinguish it from counterfeits and avoid common mistakes people make when they try to change their habits and live for God.

This extraordinary book will help you in myriad ways to rise above your limitations and truly meet God!

Start on the way to true self-mastery as you learn:

  • •Two things you must know in order to make any progress at all in your spiritual life
  • •Why it's dangerous for you to try to adopt a large number of spiritual disciplines all at once
  • •Self-knowledge: why it involves so much more than its contemporary counterfeit, self-analysis
  • •Two ways to avoid self-deception when you look at yourself (caution: you'll probably be surprised at who you really are!)
  • •Why self-control and self-denial are not morbid and gloomy, but hopeful and even joyful when undertaken properly
  • •Self-discipline: how it will restore your soul to its full power. Three things you must have in order to gain this power
  • •The mistake many people make when trying to rid themselves of evil thoughts: are you falling into this trap too?
  • •Love: the holy school that will purify and ennoble yours and help you steer clear of prevalent modern counterfeits

And more that will show you the value of self-mastery and give you solid directions for attaining it!
